MaxKare
MaxKare is a brand in name only, that is, it puts its badge on pre-made machines to sell. As far as we can tell, MaxKare doesn't design fitness equipment, describing itself as an e-commerce company that sells via Amazon in the US and Canada.
In addition to treadmills, they sell rowing machines, exercise bikes, mostly for under $500 (some well under), so they cater very much for the budget end of the market. They also sell products for the home including electric blankets, kitchenware and even baby care - quite a mixed bag.
One thing to note if buying one of their fitness machines - while they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, it's difficult to find any information about an actual warranty. It is possible to buy an extended warranty, but when you look at their record on customer service, we wonder how useful they would be.
Having said this, they do sell a lot of machines on Amazon, having many in the top 10 for all equipment types. The reviews tend to be good, with many being happy with their purchase, feeling they've got good value for money. However, where customers have experienced problems, they tend to rate the products and after-sales service very poorly - see below.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
In short... it's not good. We've heard of many cases of customers contacting them and hearing nothing back! They have an email address - see below - but don't appear to be contactable by telephone. The company advises customers to contact them via Amazon.
MaxKare is owned by Shenzhen Heitingpai Technology, based in China and has its HQ in Shenzhen.
MaxKare Treadmills
At time of writing (July 2020), MaxKare have three basic treadmills (both called 'Electric Folding Treadmill) on sale in the US. However, there appears to be minor variations such as size of motor, bringing the number up to 4 - all in the top 20 best-sellers on Amazon.
MaxKare Electric Folding Treadmill:
Rating
3.5/10
For a treadmill costing around $350 you get a surprising amount of features. These include a backlit LCD screen - it's not huge, but it does what you need it to do, and it displays basic workout data. The one-touch buttons allow you to select the speed, ranging from 0.5 to 8.5 mph - a sufficient range for most runners. You can also change the speed using controls on the handrail - which is a nice touch.
The handrails also have heart rate sensors so you can keep an eye on your work rate. But note, the 3 incline settings have to be set manually, that is, you get off and do it yourself :0)
The 2.5 HP motor is reasonably quiet but the deck is narrow at only 17". On the plus side, it comes with 15 pre-set workout programs including interval and recovery. And as the name suggests, it folds up :0)
It has its limitations, but for the price, you get a reasonable machine - so long as your expectations aren't too high.
