Xterra Fitness

Xterra T6.6 treadmill - side viewTop of the range, Xterra T6.6

So do you pronounce it 'extra' or 'x-terra'? We've heard both ways but it's probably not important. Owned by Dyaco, a fitness and physical therapy equipment supplier, Xterra is based in Arkansas and have been on the  scene since the early 1990s.

They have a wide range of treadmills, bikes, elliptical and rowing machines, starting at low prices and have earned a pretty good reputation for their customer service (unlike a number of brands unfortunately!).

Xterra's treadmills start around $350 and go up to the $1,000 mark, so have something for everyone in the budget to mid-range. This is a highly competitive market so you have to stand out, and Xterra have a few notable models that can at least stand side-by-side with the performers in this range.

They also come with good warranties for the price - see below.

Xterra Fitness Treadmills

All Xterra treadmills come with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The motors on the lower-priced machines are covered for just one year, but this increases up to a lifetime of their top models. But it's best to check for each treadmill as they do differ.
Xterra TRX2500: Rating 7.0/10 7.0 Stars

The TRX2500 comes in right in the middle of Xterra's range and has a good range of features to make it worth a look. For the price, you get a large running deck (20" x 55"), one-touch controls for speed (1 - 10mph) and incline (0 - 10%), plus controls on the handlebars.

The console has 26 pre-set workout programs with enough variation to keep you interested. The LCD screen is not over-large at 5.5" and if your eyesight ain't great you might struggle with some of the displayed data.

The 2,5 CHP motor is reasonably quiet and runs smoothly enough, and the extras such as speakers and a cooling fan.

It doesn't stand out from the crowd, but it does what it does well, delivering a good workout for a good price to get you fit.
